Where do i look for wedding planner/event coordinator jobs?
May 29, 2009
I'm having so much trouble finding them. Even if I'm looking for a "way in the door" what industries do I look under? HELP!! I worked as an event coordinator for 2 years and I worked for 6 months at a bridal magazine so i have some experience.
Get some contacts, a church or pastor, a cake designer or 2, a florist or 6, a caterer or 3, and a photographer or 2 in your area. Get familiar with what they have and what they offer. Put an add in the paper and on Craigslist. Be brief but explain your experience. Charge nominal fees at first and once you have experience and are established then you can get fancier with your ads get a business license (which might actually be a good way to start), get discounts with some of the contacts above and be able to offer varied plans and levels of service to suit your clients. Once you are recognizable and show that you have it together and have the connections and know how to do what needs to be done they will come flocking and you will probably be able to book some lavish weddings which will be hard work but lucrative.
