What are you using or used to plan your wedding?
June 6, 2009
I'm planning my wedding basically on my own.. till my mom gets a few weeks of work next month.. my wedding is in December and we already have the ceremony and reception place booked. so i'm good with that!!
Now, are there any special books or calendars that you've used to help you plan your wedding? If so, can you tell me the names and where i can find them??..
I'm a member of theknot.com, brides.com, and all those sites.. But don't have time to turn on a computer everytime something comes up!
I have been using this:

This thing has been a God-send. Its got checklists organized by what needs to be done, and when. I was so stressed about wedding planning and missing something until one of my bridesmaids got me this!

There are tons of party planning services that can help you with everything. You tell them what you want, they set up appointments and deal with all the little details. It is a HUGE relief.
I used a planner, and we gave them a budget figure and they had enough connections to make it work within our range, as well as having it end up beautiful. Look in the paper, or just goggle party planning in your town.
Good luck and congratulations.

I just made up my own journal with a calender, took notes from theknot.com and went with that. Just buy a purse sized notebook – all you need.

I registered at JC Penny, and they give you a neat little binder with tabs in it to organize everything. I registered at Macy's, and they give you a tote bag to store all your wedding planning stuff in it. So, I used these two, TOTALLY FREE, gifts to start my organization system, and added a small notebook for taking notes at vendors meetings, a larger notebook with pockets for storing documents and stuff, an expandable file folder for my contracts and reciepts and I use post it notes to flag important things in bridal magazines. When I go out to meet a vendor or to look for things, I take my tote bag, have access to everything, and just go to town. I print my to-do list from the Knot every time it updates, so I can check things off as I go and then update the site when I get home. My MOH is a great planning tool, too. She planned her own wedding, and two others, so she keeps copies of everything I have, including my vendors, guest lists, appointments and etc., and then we coordinate our contents once a week or so. Just find a system that works for you. I can't settle into one of those "fill in the blanks" sort of books….its not my style.

I used the knot for their "checklists"…… otherwise I just had a master list/piece of paper that I checked things off of and wrote stuff down on and continually referred to.
I spent enough money on the WEDDING….. didn't want to spend any more money PLANNING the wedding

This is the book I live by:
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Complete-Wedding-Planner-Organizer/Elizabeth-Lluch/e/9781887169660/?itm=8
It helps you compare vendors, has questions you wouldn't think to ask but are very important, has some fabulous inspiration boards inside, pocketed dividers, a 3-hole punch & time line/budget worksheets.
I looked throw all the ones at Barnes & Noble and Borders, and this was the one that works best for me. I am a producer, so I am super organized and very detailed, but I needed something already set up because I was not an expert on weddings before I got engaged.
Just ask a sales associate where the wedding planning stuff is if you can't find it. It's about the size of a school 3-ring binder and will fit in your messenger bag/large purse.
5 Stars, 2 Thumbs Up!
Good Luck & Congratulations!
