Our Wedding, Advice – Wedding Planning On A Budget

January 29, 2010

Given the constant need to make savings, lots of people start wedding planning on a budget, for example searching for a good deal for wedding invitations and honeymoon at one of the romantic vacation spots etc… and saving on many other parts…. Some people prefer traditional weddings with appropriate wedding speeches, while others will try some unique form of event just for the sake of making it memorable. Expenses usually add up unexpectedly particularly when you aim at organizing something fanciful. Read some Internet wedding guides to understand what you should do in order to be efficient when wedding planning on a budget.

Locations get most of your money. You can reduce the costs by organizing both the ceremony and the wedding reception in the same location. You won’t have to pay for the location if you organize the wedding in your parents or in laws’ backyard, not to mention that you have all the flexibility to set the date. If this idea is not suitable, check and see whether you can plan the whole event on a beach, in a garden or in some similar outdoor location.

The dress costs a lot particularly for themed events or when you want things done luxuriously. For wedding planning on a budget, a nice cocktail dress will do. The simpler the gown, the cheaper the rates. Remember that when you have a summer wedding, it is less complicated to cover all the details related to the outfit. Summer weddings can be considered cheaper if judging by overall criteria too.

Save lots of money on decorations. When you have the flower arrangements custom-made you will pay more than if you made them yourself. Why not ask a few friends or family members to help with the task? The flowers can be ordered in advance but delivered only the day before the ceremony. Keep the bouquets and the decorations in a cool place to preserve freshness. On the wedding day, they will look just as great on the party tables.

More savings tips are available for the invitations, the envelopes and the thank you notes. Wedding planning on a budget can be as special as you like, as long as you have lots of help with people skilled to do things for you. When you have less than 100 guests, you can print the invitations at home or have them hand-made. Part of the menu can also be home-made, when organizing some traditional ethnic wedding party. And the list of suggestions can continue!

Wedding Plans – Is This For Us?

January 13, 2010

Are you stressed out because the big day is getting closer and you haven’t got things ready, like wedding speeches or interior decorating? Are there many ‘to do’ items’ in ‘my wedding planning‘ file? If yes, it means you need to put more work into the organization part. Why not trust a wedding planner with all the nasty details? Just explain what you want to achieve and a wedding coordinator will do his/her best to put everything into practice. For a moderate fee, a professional event organizer can save you from lots of stress and sleepless nights.

Preparations ought to be carried out in a specific order, and the organizer will guide you towards the right sequence of events. Stop worrying that ‘my wedding plans will go to pieces’ because a pro has gone through the same preparatory stages dozens if not hundreds of times. There are many issues that the event planner can help you with, but most important, you will have a time line to stick to, and someone to make sure that things are handled correctly.

Your wedding budget can be a lot more realistic when you know exactly how much you are going to pay for each service, and when the best prices are negotiated on your behalf. Write down a list in ‘my wedding plans’ with all the payments due to vendors, but only after making sure that you have got the best discount possible. Discuss the party menu with the caterer and discuss special foods or diets you want included. The wedding planner can be of much service here too, as he/she can make sure that you get the best quality for your budget.

Other problems may appear because you may not know where to buy flowers, favors and table lines from. Such elements that you’ll always put into ‘my wedding plans’ take a lot of time and cause disputes over details. These components require careful coordination, and from one end to another you can rely on professional assistance. Event organizers will handle the tasks easily and efficiently.

Finally, if you aim at organizing a special event, there will be issues in ‘my wedding plans’ that should correspond to your customization requirements. And here we do not refer just to matching the color of the dresses with that of the flower arrangements, but rather to the choice of special music, the selection of thank you gifts and even the table decorations.

How To Make Wedding Flowers

December 18, 2009

Flowers play an integral part in any wedding ceremony. More than just a decoration though, wedding flowers have now become a tradition. A wedding would be quite incomplete without these fragrant gifts of mother earth.

They are a symbol of new hope and a bright future. Done right, they create a heaven like environment, and intensify the feelings of joy being experienced by the bride.

So, what are the steps that need to be taken to ensure that flowers used at a wedding are perfect for the occasion?

1) The Selection Of The Flowers

In picking what flowers to choose, keep in mind the theme and the color premise of the wedding. The flowers should complement the other aspects of the wedding, not distract from them, and so a good idea is to match and blend the flowers with color and style of the brides dress. Another point to consider is the availability of the flower type. Depending on the season, you can order the freshest, the most available and the cheapest kind of flowers. Flowers like babys breath, orchids, gardenia and roses are readily obtainable no matter what time of the year.

2) Preparing The Materials

You will need more than just the flowers themselves. Good scissors, florist tape and ribbons will also be required in order to turn a standard bunch of flowers into a bouquet of flowers that is fit for the bride to carry down the aisle. Consider buying, or renting from a library, some books on the topic too, so that you can learn some little tricks and tips.

3) Creation Of The Bouquets

There are various ways that you can put your flowers together to make a beautiful bouquet, but here we will look at just the most popular one. Start by choosing three flowers that you want to use as the centerpiece of your arrangement. Puff air into the center of each flower to give it a fuller look. Arrange these three flowers into the shape of a triangle, with each one being at a slightly different height to the other two. Continue adding up two to three flowers at a time until they form a dome. At the is point, use some florist tape to secure them together by their stems. This is really more than a one person job as, for a perfect result, you will need one person to hold the flowers together (there could be well be 36 in a single bouquet) whilst the other one tapes them.

4) Add The Final Touches

Adding ribbons to the flowers and tape should be done to cover up any unsightly parts and to highlight the colors of the flowers. Then carefully cut the excess stems and ensure that they are all even in length. One this has been done, place the bouquet in a vase of water until the moment they are need in order to retain optimal freshness and scent.

Time to make your wedding day special

December 2, 2009

Your wedding day is by far the most special day in your life and it is important to get it spot on. A brilliant way to get your wedding day to be better than anyones is to lease out marquees. There are several different areas to look at when hiring out party marquees and I have listed the primary points;

  • The Ground

When looking at a wedding venue do make sure that the ground itself is level and flat thus making it easier to install a marquee and lay out tables and things like that. Additionally, it is worth knowing if the ground is suitable for flooding as we are all aware that the British weather can be a little tricky sometimes.

  • The Power

If you are planning on getting in a DJ then having power hooked up to the marquee is crucial. If the venue cannot provide power then you may have to look at other options like a generator which will suffice.

  • Parking

This is probably at the back of your mind but it is very important to consider. Most people will be looking at driving to a wedding with about 4 or 5 people in the car so it is important to find a venue which has either a gravel or tarmac car park so people will not get stuck at all if it is wet.

  • Hotels

Most of your guests and yourself included will be drinking so driving is not an option. There are enough of hotels and B&B’s which will offer you deals if many people are all staying in the hotel at the same time so it may end up costing you a lot less than you initially thought of.

So, I hope these points have helped you establish what will make a good wedding. There are several areas in here that will be excellent to think about. An excellent resource I have used before to get information about wedding’s is http://www.confetti.co.uk/

Rehearsal Dinner Etiquette – A Quick Glance

September 22, 2009

Weddings can be a complicated affair.  There are rules and procedures at every turn.  Families preparing for a wedding often receive a crash course in party planning and guest accommodations.  The rehearsal dinner is an important element of a wedding, and rehearsal dinner etiquette can be pretty complex.  But if the rules are understood, there’s no reason for it to be anything but an enjoyable element of an overall enjoyable wedding experience.

Here’re some wedding rehearsal dinner etiquette tips. The groom’s parents are considered to be the hosts for the rehearsal dinner. That means the organization and decisions should be left to them. For couples who prefer to host the dinner themselves as a thanks to the families and wedding guests, make sure to explain the reasoning to the grooms parents so as not to insult them. And if they take it hard, include them in some way. Why take on more work when letting others manage it makes them happier?

The dinner should take place the day before the wedding, directly after the wedding rehearsal. This ensures that all the guests and family are in town, available to attend. It’s very bad form to hold the rehearsal dinner too far in advance of the wedding. It potentially excludes some people. The last thing needed from a wedding is hurt feelings in either family. Remember, for the bride and groom both families are soon to become their family.

Make sure to invite the immediate relatives on both sides of the wedding.  Also invite the whole bridal party and any other close friends or family of the soon to be married.  The preacher or whoever officiates the wedding, offers the vows, should also be invited.  Take care with these invitations.  Failing to invite someone could lead to years of bad feelings, do you want that?

Dinner begins with a time for people to talk and mingle.  Be aware of the pressure people face at a wedding, so lighten the mood.  Keep this dinner in line with the budget of the overall wedding.  If it’s a million dollar wedding then the rehearsal dinner should reflect this.  By the same token a budget wedding should have too fancy of a rehearsal dinnerA less expensive wedding warrants a less expensive rehearsal dinner.  And don’t keep people out too late the night before the big day.

Here’s a rehearsal dinner etiquette tip for wedding toasts. The bride and groom toast all those helping to make the wedding wonderful.  This includes both the bride’s and groom’s parents, and anyone else who has helped.  The toast comes after the main course.  Save other toasts for the reception.

Don’t ruin a nice wedding by stepping on toes at the rehearsal dinner. Keep rehearsal dinner etiquette in mind.

When you Should Fire Your Wedding Planner

July 22, 2009

Wedding planners are professionals that are supposed to work with you on your wedding, and they are supposed to give opinions but not be overbearing, and the most important factor of all is that they are supposed to always remember that it is your wedding not theirs, and so even though they may have a multitude of ideas to bring to the table, they should still hear and listen to your ideas first, so that your wedding will be for you.

There are certain times when you should fire your wedding planner, and although this may sound harsh, you need to realize that you only have one wedding, and so you certainly want to be satisfied with the results that come from it. Especially if you are paying to have a wedding planner, then even more so you do not want to be unhappy with the results.

Why you Should Fire Your Wedding Planner

All too many times, you are too afraid to fire your wedding planner, and although this is mean of you in a way, or so you may think, you have to realize that if they are not listening to your ideas, not taking your feelings into consideration, or simply not working hard enough on your wedding, then you truly do have the right to fire your wedding planner and find a new one.

If you already know that you want to fire your wedding planner, but are just unsure about how you can go about it, then just remember to be polite, and even though you may feel bad you really should go through with it because your wedding is the most important day of your life, and you should not feel as though you got ripped off or as though none of your ideas got heard and thus that your wedding is nothing like what you expected, and in a negative way.

Basically there are many different ways that you can go about it, but just make sure that you let them know that you are not happy with their ideas and with the results that are being shown so far. They should understand, and most certainly should not put up a fight, as any good and decent wedding planner will be most concerned about your feelings and about you being happy with your wedding and so if anything they may even direct you to another wedding planner that is more in sync with you.
